Welcome to the 39th IAEE 2016 conference at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) in Bergen, Norway!
We have taken several initiatives in order to create an environmentally friendly conference and minimize our carbon footprint:
Food and drinks:
The food that will be served throughout the conference is produced ecologically and is locally sourced in order to reduce the distance travelled. Conferences delegates will also be given a reusable “Light My Fire” mug in their registration bag. Delegates are encouraged to use these mugs throughout the conference in order to reduce the waste from disposable cups.
Conference delegates will be given a bus card – Bergen Card that is valid throughout the entire city and can be used for transport from the city center to the Norwegian School of Economics. Bergen Card also gives our delegates free entry or discounted admission to most attractions in Bergen. To find out more about Bergen Card please click here. Delegates can pick up their travel cards from the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel in Bergen on Sunday the 19th or at NHH on Monday 20 June. The Bergen card is valid from Monday 20 June to Wednesday 22 June and is valid on city buses and the light rail transit (Bybanen). Please ensure you have the travel card with you while using the bus or Bybanen. The stop NHH is nearest to is called “Handelshøyskolen”. More information regarding travel can be found at www.skyss.no in English or Norwegian.
Automobile Parade and Presentation on Tuesday 21 June:
On Tuesday 21 June there is an opportunity to commute from the Radisson Blu Royal to the conference at NHH in an electric or hybrid automobile with one of our automotive sponsors to set the tone for the plenary session: “Technological Change and Energy in Transport”. Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your information if you would like to take part in this opportunity. Please note that there are limited spots available; therefore, we will take requests on a first come first served basis.
Once the automobiles have arrived at NHH they will be presented outside throughout the day. Representatives from the automotive companies will be available to show delegates around the automobile, provide additional information and answer questions. We encourage delegates to go outside for some fresh air and learn about the variety of alternative propulsion automobiles that are currently available.
